Standard Cribs

This is the traditional crib that you can find almost anywhere. It basically is rectangular in shape and you can use it until your child is 24 months or even longer. Although it is the most familiar crib, it does come in various designs and colors. For instance, you have a choice between ornate and simple frames. Older versions of standard cribs used to have drop sides. These were basically for easy access to the baby. However, it was later discovered that these drop side cribs were actually dangerous in that babies that have reached that crawling stage could fall out and get hurt. As such, they were banned.

Convertible Cribs

These baby beds are also referred to as lifetime cribs. They are called convertible cribs because they can be adjusted, converting them into a much smaller bed. As such, the bed can last for a long time; you can use it for all your kids. This type of crib is pricier when compared with the standard crib, but it is a good investment. They are also available in various styles and colors, but the most accepted style is the sleigh bed. Therefore, at the end of the day, the choice is up to you. If you have a limited budget, a standard crib will do just fine. However, if you do not have budget constraints, the convertible crib would be a much better option.
